Summer HighlightsThere are two events this summer that will enhance your viewing of the night sky. On June 22 and 23, the Calumet Astronomical Society is hosting a free telescopic viewing event called "Mars Madness" at Lemon Lake County Park from 8:30 to 11:30 p.m. The Merrillville Community Planetarium’s Summer Public Show "The Summer Sky" will be presented in July on every Friday and the last 2 Saturdays of the month. Learn summer constellations and planets. The Delta Aquarid meteor shower July 26/30 and the Perseid meteor shower August 12/14 will highlight the summer sky. Watch the red planet Mars cross the southern sky at its most brilliant! |
