VU's Observatory

Valparaiso University’s observatory will be open to the public on several dates over the next three months. Astronomy professors Bruce Hrivak and Sean Scully will run the computer-controlled telescope for the free viewings.

In October, the observatory viewings will begin at 8:30 p.m. on October 5, 12, and 26. In November and December, the viewings will begin at 7:30 p.m. and will be held on November 9 and December 7.

The Valparaiso observatory is located south of Gellerson Center, which is the math and engineering building. There is plenty of free parking near the building. If the weather looks difficult for viewing, call (219) 464-5369 to confirm the viewing is still being held that night.
