Fewer Stars Made in Universe

Fewer stars are being made now than in the past. Scientists don’t really know why. In a “normal” galaxy, stars are forming at a rate equal to 10 times the mass of our sun per year. Star formation was 10 times higher in the galaxy when it was younger. It may be because in the early universe, there were more raw materials available, 3 to 10 times more molecular gas and dust than there is today.
