Astronomy Websites

There are several good websites for students of all ages to get Astronomy information on-line. To learn the ABCs of Astronomy, young students or beginners can use Rick Arendt’s Astronomical Alphabet at http://users.erols.com/arendt/astronomical/alphabet.html. For general educational resources for people of all ages, use Arendt’s Nine Planets site. For the avid Astronomy fan, visit the expert’s collection of the Space & Astronomy for Kids section at About.com at http://kidsastronomy.about.com/. For star maps and celestial events, log onto http://www.kidsastronomy.com, or http://www.dustbunny.com/afk. The last site has cosmic postcards to send on-line to friends.

NASA has Spacekids at http://spacekids.hq.nasa.gov. It has detailed information on current and future space missions, a tour of the solar system, and an abundant supply of images. The High Energy Astrophysics Science Archive Research Center at the NASA/Goddard Space Flight Center has StarChild at http://starchild.gsfc.nasa.gov/. Two levels at the site provide facts about the solar system and the universe, and has an archive of common questions and answers.
