Fall Public Show
The Planets The Merrillville Community Planetarium presents The Planets, a public program beginning on October 7 and continuing through October 29. The show will be presented on Friday, October 7, 14, and 28, and Saturday, October 15 and 29 at 7:30 p.m. There are no shows on October 21 and 22. Additional showings may be added if needed. The planetarium opens for seating 30 minutes before the show begins. No one will be admitted after the program starts. From the formation of our solar system to the existence of planets around other stars, this program explores our solar system and reveals what we currently know about it. Starting at Mercury and continuing through the outer solar system, we'll learn about the planets, moons, asteroids, and comets that orbit our sun. The planetarium’s Gift Shop will be open and, weather permitting, an outdoor observing session will be offered following the program. Admission to public programs is $3.00 for adults and $2.00 for children. Seating is limited and should be reserved by calling (219) 650-5486 or here on the web site. Large groups can arrange for a private show by calling the planetarium at (219) 650-5486. This is the planetarium’s first public program for the 2011-2012 school year. Our next public show will be “The Winter Sky” in January 2012. The planetarium is located in Clifford Pierce Middle School at 199 East 70th Avenue in Merrillville, Indiana. Please park and enter on the west side of the building. |
